Are You Hearing It Now?

after movement   rejoining the still

breath catches    in the particulars

little snores mean   you haven’t

died in your sleep   rain that

touches    everything yes now

on shore we praise the iconic

intro of dance with somebody

east river cruise boat party   our ears

autofilled   it was girls just wanna have

fun on the rocks cops hassle

girls with beer cans   we watch

til they move on   something’s

swelling   warning in the water

a man    too close looking too much

whatever that sounds like   amygdala

firing sounds like oh fuck

subway jackhammer panic

my pulse with it   I don’t hear

with bluebells my   peripherals

but other sounds that   probably

not or probably   shoulder me

on the train   mutter why ya

standing there faggot   instead

of screaming worldlessly   or pulling

out your dick   our sleeping shoulders

but if it were or would that   hand

sliding down pole   stepping off

to allow if instead    when I get to what

are we willing to give up if  we gets

bigger for real    the real whitney

key change lifts me up to meet it

soughing    little frogs    purring

wind shivers    fur brushing fur

it’s ok    it’s ok    it’s ok
